CAROLE. RASOR-CORDERO, Ph.D.
Dr. Rasor-Cordero is a retired Captain from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. During her 25-year law enforcement career, she served in divisions including Patrol Operations, Crimes Against Children, Economic Crimes, Training, Community Services, and Court Security. As Commander of the Community Services Division, she established the Domestic Violence Unit, Sexual Predator and Offender Unit, and Citizen’s Community Policing Institute. She also served as the agency’s training advisor and was instrumental in transforming the Pinellas County Police Academy into a progressive program offering college credit at St. Petersburg College. Dr. Rasor-Cordero led the Hostage Negotiation Team and founded the Critical Incident Stress Management Team to support officers' mental health and resilience.
Dr. Rasor-Cordero’s research explores the link between personality and exemplary leadership practices among law enforcement leaders. She has a strong background as an educator and trainer, having developed the first national online gang-related investigations track. She created Evolving Leaders in a Changing World, a comprehensive six-part series for the Southeastern Public Safety Leadership Institute that’s approved for college credit, as well as a three-part series on implementing, managing, and evaluating community policing for the Florida Regional Community Policing Institute, which has benefited mid- and executive-level leaders statewide. She has also developed training in critical high-liability areas, including firearms, defensive tactics, and EVOC. As a federal consultant, she has evaluated law enforcement programs for the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) and Bureau of Justice Assistance, assessing training needs and program effectiveness.
Currently, Dr. Rasor-Cordero is an associate professor in St. Petersburg College’s College of Public Safety Administration. She holds a Ph.D. in Education, Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Criminal Justice from the University of South Florida, and is a graduate of PERF’s Senior Management Institute for Police.
